What is DecadesILove.com?

DecadesILove.com is a free social networking website for nostalgia lovers to have their very own home on the web, where they can share their passions and re-discover the great memories of yesterday!

What can I do on the site?

As a member, you can create a personal profile page where you can share your nostalgic favorites, and interact with others. On your page, you can share all about yourself and your interests, upload your favorite videos (personal or from YouTube, Google, etc.), upload your favorite songs, photos, create your own groups, polls, blog, and chat up a storm on the message board forums! You can also have fun playing the monthly trivia games!

How do I update my profile and add my own content to the site?

When you log-in to the site, you will be on the MAIN page tab. Note the row of tabs just below the site heading. To update your profile, click the SETTINGS link, located in the upper-right hand corner of the page. From there you have several choices. You can update your account and profile settings, and add or change your profile picture, select your e-mail settings, and design your profile page appearance.

To upload content, you click on the QUICK ADD drop down menu in the upper-right hand corner and choose from the selection there to upload videos, music, pictures, post blogs, notes, and create new forum discussions. You can also click the respective item in the main menu and choose "add" in the upper-right corner.

How much content can I upload to the site?

At present, each member receives at least 20MB of server space to add content such as videos, MP3 music files and photos.

What is an active member?

To qualify as an active member, you must log in and participate on the site at least once per week and engage in some activity, i.e. add new content, comments, messages, interact with other members, etc. (The definition of an active member is subject to change at any time. If such a change occurs, members are notified via e-mail.)

How can I win a gift certificate?

Two ways. 1) All active members are eligible for the monthly drawing held in that month’s Featured Forum. The Featured Forum is always noted on the homepage. One member’s name is drawn each month and the prize is a gift certificate to Amazon.com! 2) Score 100% on the trivia game in the Featured Forum and be entered into the monthly drawing to win the prize in the title of the game!

How will I know if I have won a gift certificate?

Winners will be notified and prize will be delivered via the e-mail address used for sign up.

What if I find a video is not working, is inappropriate or miscategorized?

Due to the high volume of content on the site, we rely on members to advise us when something stops working or is questionable. For example, if you find a video is no longer functioning or is in any way inappropriate, please click the "Flag" button just beneath the video in question and select the appropriate issue. A notification will be sent to the site administrator and we will promptly review/remove the video.

When adding a video, do I have to fill in the "tags" field?

Tags are not required, however they do help make your video more accessible in searches. It helps other members find them. For example, if you have uploaded a performance, it helps to place the artists' name in the tag field so it can be easily located when a member searches for that artist. It also helps to include the relevant decade(s) when applicable.
